I liked the idea of being a writer. Simpler tools — paper, pencil, and one can write from anywhere. But I grew up in a household where things were made. Pottery, clocks, drawings — things you could use and hang on a wall. Making things came naturally. Graphic design merges my interests and abilities. Unlike art, design is communication for the masses. The challenge is to arrange content with visuals in a meaningful way that has impact on a wide audience while giving visual “voice” to the client’s objective. My design career began when it was a hands-on endeavor involving type galleys and rubber cement. Today, with tools in our laps, it’s not too hard to design from anywhere.
